Every Day Brings Surprises
Every day brings surprises.
Their names (for now) are Snowball & Popcorn. These birds are also surprising in that they have a wonderful approved adopter with a brand new aviary custom-designed and built for rescued king pigeons waiting for them. Imagine!
Another surprise that came today is Soho sick with PMV but doing pretty good thanks to lots of TLC from her foster family. I'll be taking care of her through the weekend. I added a scenic picture to her crate just as I was taught by foster volunteers (thank you Alice & Jaclyn, artists both).
Today's surprises include two baby king pigeons at SFACC that a volunteer noticed weren't feeling great (thank you, Amaryllis). She and another volunteer drove them to me (thank you, Kate) and I was surprised and pleased to find them in better condition than I feared they might be.

They're going to spend a week with me and then move to their new HOME (thank you, Shae).

Another surprise that arrived today was a box full of 10 dozen fake pigeon eggs donated (along with 40 pounds of dove and pigeon food) to me by an extremely generous fellow bird rescue volunteer (thank you, Patricia) who was the first to test out MickaCoo's new WishList. Every pair of birds we place comes with a pair of fake eggs (pigeon birth control) so seeing this box full and ready makes me feel sure we've got lots of adoptions in the making.
And I got this surprise today, too. A wonderful adopter and MickaCoo supporter thinks my pigeon rescue efforts are trophy-worthy and surprised me with this today, shipped all the way from NY. (Thank you, Alex.) It's had me smiling all day. I'm trying to decide if I should bring it along when I go to rescue meetings and adoption fairs. I just might.
Thank YOU for surprising the world and caring enough about pigeons to help them when they need it. Compassion is contagious.
