Jade
After spending the Saturday 10/3 at a Mickaboo & 'Coo Adoption Booth at the Prusch Farm Event in San Jose, MickaCoo volunteer (and Dovee rescuer) Cheryl and I went to two South Bay shelters to pick up pigeons that we had been asked to help with. At our second stop, we picked up two "small homers" from SVACA that, from the pictures I saw, seemed more likely to be young kings.
Now that I've got them fostered in my loft, I'm wondering if they might indeed have homer or racer DNA. They are both very long, narrow, sleek and their faces don't look like kings (more like racing pij). They're exotic and svelte and I've named them Jade and Mei Mei (little sister in Chinese though I don't know for sure the gender). Jade is probably a couple of weeks older than Mei Mei and neither is more than a couple of months old. They're currently happily fostered in my loft and will be available for adoption at the Marin Humane Society later this week.
All we know about where they came from is that:
"They were strays from Campbell. The person who found the birds took them to the Humane Society in Milpitas. We (SVACA) picked the birds up on 9/26 but the Humane Society didn’t know how long the RP (surrenderer) had them nor did they get any contact information for them. We hold strays for the wait period of 5 days. They are due out tomorrow."
