Blue
Blue was found as a stray on 3/27 at the corner of Fulton & 23rd and brought home as a foster on 4/5. She came in with a blue twist-type band on her left ankle (no ID numbers) and seemed a bit depressed so I named her Blue. She spent the first couple of days self-sequestered in the open bird cage in the pij room and started blossoming in the aviary. She was the first to try out one of the unfinished "Hollywood Squares" style nest boxes and spends a lot of her time on the 'penthouse' perch. Usually I take the leg bands off right away but hers is loose and I've got a lot of pigeons at the moment so I've left it on to help me identify her. She's not yet got a mate but she has been making out with married pigeon George the past two days. She's a lovely, independent, easy going hen and is available for adoption.
7/12/08 Blue's dating! I've had Blue since April 5th and she's been single the whole time. Today she was snoogling with Willow, a bird I've had since March 12th. Why now all of a sudden? I have no idea. We'll see if this turns into the real thing.
11/19/08 Update
Willow & Blue are famous! Well, they're the July birds in Mickaboo's 2009 Calendar. All proceeds benefit Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue. If YOU by one, tell them MickaCoo sent you (please!)
12/4/08 Update
Blue and her mate Willow have been adopted by a wonderful family and now live (happily ever after) with their friends Billie & George, Rome & Opal and three chickens in a big, gorgeous aviary.
