Genie
The e-mail I got was titled "Pigeon on a ledge" and said:
No, not a joke or the punch line to a joke. A pigeon slammed into my bosses window and slid down to the ledge. He's perched there with his head under his wing. He's banded and has pooped on the ledge. Do I leave him there? It's a small 1.5" ledge and it's about 3 feet off the ground. He's not moving around and no one is bothering him. I leave at 4:30.
And the response was, "nope. scoop him up. where are you at?" And that's how Genie came to be a MickaCoo bird.
Genie wasn't feeling good at all that first night but the Mickaboo volunteer who found and rescued her transported her to a MickaCoo volunteer who fosters pigeons and by the next morning, Genie was feeling MUCH better and very eager to get out of her crate and join the other pigeons in the aviary.

Thanks to Laurie who rescued her and Zann who fostered her, Genie's fortunes went from poor to wonderful very quickly.
If Laurie hadn't rescued Genie, she probably would have been killed by a predator before she recovered from crashing into the window. And, if she had recovered in time, there's no guarantee she would have found her way home safely. She's a teeny, tiny young roller and they're not the strongest flyers nor greatest homers.
We've been unable to locate her owner and so she is now available for adoption. She's a lovely brownish lavendar little bon bon of a bird. Very cute. Not tame but very cute.
