Sienna & Summer
Sienna and Summer are two of the 50+ baby king pigeons that were dumped (by a monk, bystanders say) at Lake Merced in SF on Monday, 6/22. When Animal Control Officers arrived on scene, 15 were already dead, one was being carried off in the talons of a hawk and 35 were caught and brought into the shelter. Others, hiding in impenetrable poison oak tangles, were uncatchable and left behind.
Sienna and Summer were two of the lucky ones though. They lived long enough to make it to the shelter and they were the two that I pulled for a recently-approved MickaCoo adopter and so they're out of the shelter and into a forever home. They are living, temporarily, in a flight cage but will move into a larger aviary soon.
