Lulu
Lulu, as he was named by a shelter volunteer, is a senior citizen king pigeon that had a band with the number 41 on his leg. He was probably a stock bird that was dumped by a breeder when he got sick or became unproductive. He was lucky enough to be brought in as a stray by an SF Animal Control Officer at midnight on 3/25 from 32nd Avenue and Santos. I was contacted on April 3 by the shelter when he showed signs of illness and went to pick him up. Lu has since been adopted and taken to UC Davis Small Animal Clinic for extensive diagnostic and theraputic care. Based on what they see on ultra sound, they believe he is a cock. He's starting to improve. Lu was a sad case that is now a very lucky old bird who will receive the very best of care for as long as he lives.
