Blinx
Blinx (renamed by me from Blinky) arrived at SFACC on 3/6 and joined many other king pigeons already there. MickaCoo adoptions have been very slow and she, along with the others, waited patiently in their small cages at the shelter to either be adopted directly or to be taken into MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue's foster care.
By March 22, the shelter was so full with 17 pigeons, that I had to figure out how to relocate half or they would be killed for space.
I pulled Blinx and most all of the pigeons out of their cages and let them hang out together in the Get Acquainted Room to see who was healthy, weak, male, female, etc. so as to best place them. Blinx seemed under the weather and so I brought her home with me. (I was able to relocate 10 others over the course of the next three days so that no birds were killed.)
But, once at my home, Blinx seemed fine. Perhaps she was depressed at the shelter or playing opossum? Whichever the case, she turned out to be a hen and quickly hooked up with flightless king bachelor Quinn.

Blinx and Quinn are available for adoption. They would prefer to live in an aviary over being pets. To adopt, please complete our online application. To support MickaCoo's work saving birds like Blinx & Quinn from being killed in animal shelters as "surplus", please make a tax-deductible donation here.
We need your support to save birds like Blinx & Quinn.
Thank you.
