I ended up with Gus because George was leaving town for a few days during the holidays. The first thing Gus did when released in my loft was to take a bath. I was prepared to syringe-feed the big lug but he jumped right in and ate like crazy so he's been on his own and doing fine out there. I monitored his weight and he went from 660 up to 680 in four days. He's a big bird and will likely continue to gain weight for awhile.
He's got a swollen right back toe (what I call the thumb) and it's getting neither better nor worse. I've examined it, soaked it, topically medicated it to no effect. He has a slight limp but can stand on the right foot alone and prefers not to be nursed by me any more than he has to be.
Gus is a mature cock (currently single) and is available for adoption.
I had a Pet Fair to attend in Mountain View on 1/17 and was planning on taking Santino & Art but, when I went out to the loft in the morning, I saw that Gus and Art were courting. So I took all three. Gus and Art spent the day together, oblivious to the rest of the world and Santino did all the hard work of being a Demo Pij. Gus' toe has resolved and he's in good spirits with the beautiful Art as his mate.
