George
George was named Snowpea while at ACC but I changed it to George because he's more like a snow plow than a flower. He's a big, healthy male pigeon, brought home to foster 4/10. He quickly courted Billie and they chose a nice, secluded nest site. She laid eggs which I switched out with wooden 'dummy' eggs soon after. They continued to sit until I moved the nest out into the aviary on 5/5 at which time Billie quit it. Since then, George is spending most of his time honeymooning with Billie but has been seen making out with Blue, as well. He's available for adoption with his mate (presumably Billie).
5/26 Update: His mate is still Billie and they once again are sitting on (wooden) eggs. They were the first to choose a nest site and to lay eggs in the new aviary.
7/12/08 Finally caught Billie & George spending time as a couple. They're a mated pair (and have been ever since George showed up on April 10th) but you never see them together- one is always on the nest. This week, though, they are in that honeymoon phase that the pij take after they quit a nest (of wooden eggs). I'll HATE taking their real eggs away from them in a few days but there are just too many homeless birds out there to allow more breeding. As Mickaboo says, Don't buy, don't breed, adopt!
12/4/08 Update
Billie and his mate George have been adopted by a wonderful family and now live (happily ever after) with their friends Opal & Rome, Willow & Blue and three chickens in a big, gorgeous aviary.
