Gracey (formerly Suchi)
Story coming soon...
12/15 E-mail from Gracey's foster mom:
I have the sad job of telling you that Gracey was euthanized today. X-rays yesterday revealed that her lung capacity was greatly diminished-Dr Brick suspected aspergillosis. Dr Brick kept her overnight and offered to go in and look with a bronchioscope if I would cover the cost of the anesthetic, and of course it was not good news so Gracey was euthanized. She asked permission to do a short necropsy on her, which I gave and found that the aspergillosis was extensive and severe. I have been crying for the last two days and now. But I know that Gracey was helped by many people and had a home and was loved during her time with us, and that her quality of life was much improved. One of the Techs at the clinic pointed out the the last part of Gracey's life was the best part of her life, which I feel is so true. I brought her home with me to be buried on our property. I will always remember her for the sweet bird that she was.

12/17 E-mail from Gracey's rescuer:
I am so very sorry to hear Gracey didn't make it. As I read your email with teary eyes and heartfelt sadness, somehow I can still feel her sweetness and grace in the air. I will miss her.
Gracey is so fortunate to have crossed paths with people like yourself and Loreli. She was loved, cared for, and given a home throughout her illness. In the words of the Tech at the clinic to Loreli, "the last part of Gracey's life was the best part of her life". I too feel is very true.
Please give Loreli my deepest condolences and pass this on to her. "Loreli, you did your very, very best and took Gracey in with open arms and an open heart". I know Gracey will rest peacefully buried in her "forever home" and will always have you close at heart. I will always remember sweet baby Gracey. On that November day, the most beautiful, graceful, sweet baby king pigeon that turned up at the doorstep... Thank you Gracey for reminding us all about peace and love.
