Sparks

Sparks, so named because I hoped he had some and knew he needed some, was severely injured by a dog with a big, deep (but scabbed over and infected within) puncture wound in his back and lacerations through to the muscles of his right leg. I brought him home from ACC on 3/19 and he was at my vet, For the Birds, for seven days. Once home, he was on follow-up antibiotics and received wound care for another two weeks. I'm amazed he survived. I didn't think he would. He's a medium sized, serious-natured king. Since his recovery, he's paired up with a hen named Alejandra and they have gone through one nesting cycle and are about to start another. Sparks is so devoted to his eggs that he often sits through a double shift and, as a result, Alejandra has a lot of free time. Sparks and Alejandra are available for adoption.
