Austin
Scroll down for update
Austin, named after Austin Powers* for her groovy bell bottoms (feathers on her feet and legs), is a West of England Tumbler that was brought in as a stray on 9/24 to the San Jose Animal Services and that Cheryl and I picked on 10/3. (Note: A search of Google images shows that Austin Powers doesn't really wear bell bottoms.)
Austin was one of five shelter pigeons we picked up that day and luckily, was the only one that wasn't healthy. Austin's poops weren't good and she was lethargic.
While the other four new birds got to go outside and stretch the wings and flirt in the loft, Austin had to stay indoors with me (and the dog and the cats and the parrots) which she felt was a pretty bum deal.
She's doing great now though and is spending today in the loft. Her beautiful Weimaraner grey chest feathers gleam with lavender iridescence. I'm not sure if Austin is male or female but I think she may be a hen. She is available for adoption.
4/8/10 UPDATE:
On Monday, 4/5 rescued West of England Tumbler Austin and king pigeon Spot were shipped via USPS Overnight Express to their wonderful new HOME in Wallingford, CT.
