Violet
I was contacted on 4/23 by a shelter about a banded pigeon in need of rescue. I asked and was repeatedly assured he was healthy and uninjured.
When I picked him up on 4/29, I was stricken to discover he was nearly dead. He was emaciated and weak and his vent was pasted shut with accumulated fecal matter to such a degree that, when cleared, a huge amount of additional trapped feces was released from within the cloaca.
He had injuries both to his leg and wing. I named him Violet, began supportive care and made an appointment with Medical Center for Birds.
Violet has made slow but steady progress. He is stable and his leg has healed. He'll likely never fly again but he can run like a deer. He's very timid and not at all trusting of people. Violet needs a nice, gentle, easy-going aviary type home. If you would like to adopt Violet or another rescued pigeon or dove, please complete our online adoption application. If you can make a donation to help MickaCoo help pigeons and doves like Violet, please visit our DONATION page for options. Please click here to e-mail Elizabeth and/or MickaCoo.
Thank you.
