Monday
Monday morning, when I went outside to see the pigeons in my backyard coop and give a small breakfast to the neighborhood ferals that congregate, there was an adult black check feral pij too skinny and weak to fly away. He must have used his last bit of strength to fly into my yard.
At first, I set him up outside where he was safe and could either rest or die in peace.
When I saw that he was inclined to live, I brought him indoors. I had to play some Pigeon Tetris to make room for him.
He's receiving supportive care and is slowly improving. I'm still deciding whether a broad spectrum antibiotic is enough or whether he will he need to see a vet.
I've named him Monday. Hopefully, he'll recover and be able to return to his bird life and fly free.

This is SO important what you are doing. I'm in Brooklyn and the rescue groups here have heard of this possible legislation in SF and we're all rooting for you!
Your kindness is not going unnoticed, Elizabeth!
Keep up the great work, Elizabeth! Its people like you who really help our feathered creatures around us!
