![Sesame sad and lonesome in a shelter cage but better than hungry and hunted out on the street.](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiErHunx4VtuxoaFH3sKiK3Arka7m5_wABzH2EvA8zb2L5OSxnuSS8KJ_lph0EV_UVdNfDxos5wP02ghWhpE9Zn5oo2USgD5nxlW6CiejsTuh_wkjC2p9TkJ7W_yzYnYnW1vfiA8A/s200/2009_11050041Sesame.JPG)
Sesame is an adult male king pigeon, all white except for a few charcoal grey feathers for trim. He was found with an injured wing on 10/29/09 in SF on Van Ness between Jackson & Franklin and was lucky to get to SFACC before a dog, hawk, cat or car killed him.
On 11/8, he was even luckier to escape the fate of euthanasia-for-space that is a reality looming over king pigeons in shelters and to be brought into the too-full fold of MickaCoo Pigeon and Dove Rescue.
![Sesame seemed both happy and apprehensive to find himself outdoors in the full pigeon coop.](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTEGWVvPPfdVDKW1qUCbX01NlUWkBIsFrfT5f6-6W6PWMK2R0SwazDtJ9gZkhM7SmMiu1QZqHk5iDmmMC_yx3brko2CbN01mQVjh9n6sHh0qYUKpK4KZVHt2BIaCjvP3pUWwS7tQ/s200/2009_11090035.JPG)
Sesame is an easy going bird that keeps a low profile. Though there are a couple of single hens in the coop, he is single for now. He can't fly (poorly healed wing injury) and so needs an environment where he can have a good quality of life on the ground.
