Fanny & Frankie

These babies' parents quit them when we moved them from the shed in back of Lucky Dog to their new foster loft.

I'm fostering and hand-feeding them.

I named them Frankie (on the left with the black beak) and Fanny with the pink beak.

They, like all baby pigeons, are growing fast! The pictures above was taken only 24 hours prior to the picture below.

3/22/11 UPDATE: I am heartbroken to have to report that despite my best efforts and the incredible support of the medical team of Wildwood Vet Hospital and the extraordinarily tender, heroic and expert foster care of Mickaboo's own Louisa, these babies did not survive the ordeal of losing their parents.

I can't imagine that there is an entire industry that risks the hand-feeding of baby birds in spite of the parent birds being available (and desperate) to provide this critical and extremely delicate care.
