Fanny & Frankie
These babies' parents quit them when we moved them from the shed in back of Lucky Dog to their new foster loft.
3/22/11 UPDATE: I am heartbroken to have to report that despite my best efforts and the incredible support of the medical team of Wildwood Vet Hospital and the extraordinarily tender, heroic and expert foster care of Mickaboo's own Louisa, these babies did not survive the ordeal of losing their parents.
I can't imagine that there is an entire industry that risks the hand-feeding of baby birds in spite of the parent birds being available (and desperate) to provide this critical and extremely delicate care.

Wow, Elizabeth. I have no words for this recent frenzy Mickacoo has been through. On the baby pigeons, the 24h growth is just amazing to me. I remember taking home a 3-day-old pair of youngsters, then a few months later, a week-old pair. The difference was striking. Hope the feeding and fostering is going well.
