I'd like to figure out a way to save them from being euthanized and help them live out the rest of their lives with a little dignity and comfort.
If you or someone you know would like to set up a mission of mercy aviary (or has an empty one), now would be a wonderful time and MickaCoo can help.
These birds will thrive if given half a chance.

ed an Angel Aviary
for the 10 of 12 dumped-like-trash king pigeons that are healthy enough to be outside. They should stay together as a flock and they should not join an aviary with other birds. Their condition is fair. These poor birds were used as breeders and thrown away like trash.

Hi there,
I work for the City of Oakland Parks and Recreation department at the
Rotary Nature Center next to Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA. Yesterday
evening we received a call from one of our recreation centers that
someone had dumped two boxes full of living birds in the parking lot
and about a dozen dead birds in bags. We had the live birds brought
over to our center since we have a way to house them temporarily.
There were 12 King Pigeons, many still young, that were in the boxes.
We're hoping that your rescue group would be interested in helping
home/foster them since we don't have the facilities to really
accommodate these new ones; as we already have quite a few in our Dome
Cage on site and don't want it to get too crowded since it's also home
to injured birds.
Your organization looks Bay Area based, so I'm hoping you'll be able
to help. You can call or e-mail, whatever works best. I should be
fairly close to the office all day, but might pop in and out. We're
open at 9am every day and close either 3pm or 4pm, depending on staff.
And so MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue is going to do our best to help find homes for these poor birds, along with the other 65 that we have in foster care.
You can help! Talk to your friends and colleagues about creating a life-saving aviary for rescued pigeons. They're easy to create and maintain and will bring you a lot of pleasure. Pigeons are smart, charming and their needs are simple. Click here to complete our new online application!
And donate. I'll be meeting these pigeons tomorrow and will know more about their health and care requirements then. But I don't have to meet them to know that 12 live king pigeons dumped along with 12 dead ones are going to have some medical needs. We're completely volunteer (more on that later) and a licensed nonprofit. Please click here to see the ways that you can contribute. And Email me at AdoptKings@gmail.com if you have questions or want more info.
These king pigeons, each one an individual with feelings and hopes and fears, were dumped in a parking lot as if they were trash. They didn't ask to be born but they are here now. Their needs are simple- a safe home, food and water, treatment if ill. Please help. If not these guys, then somebody else in need of it. Each of us would want help if we found ourselves so helpless and vulnerable.
Thank you!
