Pierre UPDATE 4/23/10
Pierre & Piper are home! I was able to not only visit my little friends this morning but to bring them home. Pierre's doing well though his surgically broken and repositioned and healing leg is surely very painful. I brought a big stalk of millet to the vet with me as a treat and neither Pierre nor Piper was much interested which surprised me because usually they attack it like little wolves.
But now we're home and they're out of the car and back into their cage (on super soft fleecies thanks to MickaCoo volunteer Ingrid) and they immediately set into their millet. In the pictures below, Piper is on the left and Pierre on the right.
Pierre's leg is now positioned correctly and will heal over the next 2-4 weeks. He's already able to scoot around a bit which is very impressive because his legs are hobbled together and one is of course broken.
Piper's been a good and very supportive friend throughout and I'm SO glad that Pierre had her for company and comfort.
Now I'm going to roll them outdoors for fresh air and sunshine. Yay for Pierre! The worst is over and he's got happier, more mobile days ahead.
Thank YOU for helping make Pierre's dream come true!
