Some Good News
While MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue and Bay Area Animal shelters are still too full, there is some good news and it's important to celebrate that as well as sound the alarm for the birds yet to be helped...
GOOD NEWS
Pierre, the 3 am splay-legged dove, has been joined by Piper, the clubby-foot dove from SJACS and they are ever so sweet together. No drama, just a contented pleasure in each other's company right from the start. I'm not sure that they're male and female but I think they are and I think they're going the 'friends first' route and will be a very lovingly bonded couple. We'll see. Piper's foot isn't perfect but she can stand and walk. Pierre's splayed leg prevents him from either and so, after a lot of consideration and discussion with avian vet Dr. Brian Speer, we are going to have his deformity surgically fixed. Donations are needed and you can help by visiting Mickaboo's Angel Program.
More good news- King Tut and Mirabelle from SFACC have been adopted and now have wonderful, caring, knowledgeable forever homes!
And five of MickaCoo's foster doves have been adopted into a lovely Bernal Heights aviary filled with the singing of canaries.
And new MickaCoo volunteers are having this adorable aviary built in their backyard for rescued king pigeons. Hurry hurry hurry!
