Big Day in the Menagerie
Tank, the huge, heavy pigeon that waddles from food dish to food dish grunting like an old pig, was the first pij to fly to the high perch in the aviary (6' feet straight up into a narrow and not untricky landing). I've helped others up to it and they enjoy perching there but no one had made it up there on their own speed yet. I would have bet money that Tank would have been the last (if ever!) to pull it off. I was even concerned that, if he fell off, he'd hurt himself, so I didn't put him up there. He was up & down all day, teaching all the other pij how to do it.
Blue, a keep-your-head-down-&-it's-less-likely-to get-cut-off kind of pigeon, was the first & only pij to try out the not-quite-finished Pigeon Hollywood Squares-style nest box I'm building. He chose the middle row, left side.
Louie, a low-key, keep-to-himself kind of pigeon, stood in the water dish soaking his old feet for a good long while before taking a bath today and tonight was very feisty at dinner.
Fancy & Luigi, sister and brother, husband and wife cats that I adopted from Pets Unlimited almost 13 years ago, spend almost all their time together. They are wrapped in each others' arms more often than not. Today though, I found them literally spooning!
